Rare and large cabinet entirely lacquered with gold and polychromy on all its 5 faces of animal decorations, landscapes and floral in fans whose branches are silver. The set is on a nashiji lacquer base and the decorations are in lacquer hira and taka maki-e. It is composed of a large drawer and 2 large doors in front concealing a large drawer and 4 small drawers on which are placed poems in lacquer. The fittings are made of gilded copper finely chiselled. Exceptional in quality and size this cabinet is in perfect condition except a very small leap of gold leaf inside a door. Origin: Japan. Period: Meiji late 19th century. Dimensions: 54x34xH49cm (21"x13"xH19")
