"Cannes" Art Deco facade of the Martinez Hotel in Cannes, a city adored by Jean Puiforcat, a great lover of the coast. Designed in 1928, the Cannes collection had a special place in the heart of the silversmith-cum-designer: when he married Maria Estevez, he chose these knives and forks to grace the wedding tables
Designed in 1928 by Jean Puiforcat, this flatware has great formal purity. Its volumes interact as though it were a sterling silver sculpture.
This family cutler, founded in Paris in 1820 by Emile Puiforcat owes most of its renown to Jean Puiforcat who establish the company in the avant-garde of modern silverwork. "Minerve " stamp (925°/°°) weight out of knifes : 10454 g
as new with originals housses and boxes
Jean was named a master silversmith in 1920. Immersed in the wave of artistic change that characterised the period between the wars, he was one of the founders of the Union Des Artistes Modernes in 1929, and was a friend of René Herbst, Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Chareau.

"Cannes" : Une silhouette rigoureuse qui évoquerait, selon certains observateurs, la façade aux accents Art déco de l'hôtel Martinez, à Cannes, une ville que Jean Puiforcat, amoureux des rivages, affectionnait beaucoup. La collection Cannes, dessinée en 1928, occupait d'ailleurs une place de choix dans le coeur de l'orfèvre-designer : le jour de son mariage avec Maria Estevez, c'est avec ces couteaux, ces fourchettes et ces cuillers-là qu'on a dressé la table.

SERVICE DE COUVERTS en argent, modèle Cannes (n°137) de style Art Déco. Il se compose de
vingt-quatre grands couverts,
vingt-quatre couverts à entremets,
douze couverts à poisson,
vingt-quatre petites cuillères de deux tailles,
vingt-quatre grands couteaux,
