Henri Emmanuel Peinte (1845-1912)
Henri Emmanuel Peinte né le 24 juillet 1845 à Cambrai , est un sculpteur français , célèbre pour ses sujets mythologiques au XIX ème siècle .
Fils de François Emmanuel Joseph Peinte , architecte à Cambrai , Henri Peinte s’oriente vers des études artistiques .
Il étudie d’abord à l’École de dessin de Cambrai , puis ayant obtenu une bourse du département , il entre à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Paris où il est l’élève de Francisque Duret , d’Eugène Guillaume et de Jules Cavelier .
Il expose pour la première fois au Salon en 1877 et remporte une médaille de troisième classe avec sa statue de « Sarpédon » , qui est son œuvre la plus connue .
Il est primé pour une réduction en bronze de son « Sarpédon » et le groupe d’ « Orphée et Cerbère » à l’Exposition Universelle de 1889 à Paris , année oū il fut décoré de La Légion d’Honneur .
Le modèle original en plâtre de « Sarpédon » est actuellement conservé au Musée des Beaux-Arts de Coulommiers .
Henri Emmanuel Peinte décède le 26 décembre 1912 à Paris .

Henri Emmanuel Peinte born July 24 , 1845 in Cambrai , is a French sculptor , famous for his mythological subjects in the 19th century .
Son of François Emmanuel Joseph Peinte , architect in Cambrai , Henri Peinte turned towards artistic studies , he first studied at the Cambrai School of Drawing , then , having obtained a scholarship from the department , entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he was a student of Francisque Duret , Eugene Guillaume and Jules Cavelier .
He exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1877 and won a third class medal with his statue of « Sarpedon » , which is his best-known work .
He won an award for a bronze reduction of his « Sarpedon » and the group of « Orpheus and Cerberus » at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 in Paris , the year in which he was decorated with the Legion of Honor .
The original plaster model of « Sarpedon » is currently kept at the Museum of Fine Arts of Coulommiers .
Henri Emmanuel Peinte died on December 26 , 1912 in Paris .
