Charming dance card or card holder, French work of XIXth century, from the Napoleon III period.
Our object reveals all its elegance in the sobriety of its decoration rendered thanks to the work of enameled silver set in relief with a golden geometric grid with fleurs-de-lys present in the corners. Its appearance is reminiscent in a certain way of the royal works of the medieval period.
Its cream-coloured interior, in a very fine state of preservation, tells us about its provenance since it bears the mention "Tahan, Rue de la Paix". This indication specifies its design date, since the emperor's former cabinetmaker moved to this location between 1849 and 1866 before moving to the Boulevard des Italiens later.
