Flemish artist born in Brussels in 1606 into a family of painters, he died in 1651 in Antwerp. He was a student of Franz Francken the Younger and a member of the League of Saint-Luc in 1636.
Christoffel Van Der Lamen specializes in genre painting.
He likes to represent assemblies of musicians, backgammon players, indoor or outdoor meals. The guests are always richly dressed, the women wearing magnificent silk dresses in bright colors and adorned with jewelry, the men in extravagant hats.
His touch is fluid and light, the materials and colors harmonize wonderfully, an atmosphere of joy and shared pleasure emerges.
Very prolific and having to respond to numerous requests, Christoffels Van Der Lamen painted several variations of his paintings.
