After Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier Pair of chiseled and gilded bronze candlesticks in the Louis XV style Circa 1880
An interesting and decorative pair of beautiful cast bronze candlesticks, chased and gilded, richly modelled with shell motifs, in the rocaille ornamental repertoire. In the centre of the shaft, there are three reserves in the form of a coat of arms with, above, three figures of children carrying the bobèche.
Beautiful French work in the Louis XV style, manufactured around 1880, after the torches created by Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier for Louis XV and preserved at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.
The model for these torches was apparently designed by Meissonnier, on the occasion of the birth of the Dauphin, in 1729.

Very good state of conservation, original gilding in a beautiful state of freshness.
Juste Aurèle Meissonnier, goldsmith, designer, sculptor and architect, was born in Turin. Son of a French goldsmith with whom he began his career, his creations were very quickly appreciated by the high nobility and the European courts, and he worked for the French Court and the Portuguese Court as evidenced by the project for a silver throne intended for King D. Joao V, as well as for the English and Polish aristocracy.

An interesting and decorative pair of beautiful ormolu candlesticks, richly chiseled with shell motifs in the Rococo style. In the center of the shaft are three reserves in the form of coats of arms with, above them, three figures of children carrying the candle wick.
A fine French work in the Louis XV style, made around 1880, based on the candlesticks created by Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier for Louis XV and kept in the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.
The model for these torches is said to have been designed by Meissonnier for the birth of the Dauphin in 1729.
