Signed lower left "Dom.Papety" on the portrait of the Neapolitan.
Student of L. Cogniet; he won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1836. He appeared at the Paris Salon from 1843 to 1847. He visited Greece, Syria, Palestine. Ingres held his talent in great esteem and influenced him greatly. Through several of his paintings, he also shows his passion for Raphaël.
