Virgin and Child, Saint Anne and the Infant John the Baptist
Oil on copper
23 x 17 cm without frame

One cannot help but be moved by the beautiful, haloed face of the Virgin Mary, bent over the infant Jesus. Saint Anne watches attentively while John the Baptist gazes upon the one who will guide him. Dressed in a pink robe, she holds the infant Jesus on her lap, draped in silk embroidered with flowers. The work is precious; the scene takes place outdoors, a curtain separating and protecting the Virgin.
