Tulip Chair (miniature published by Vitra)
The Tulip Chair was designed by Finnish designer Eero Saarinen in 1956 for the New York company Knoll. It is a legendary chair from the 50s.
Originally created to match the dining table created by Saarinen, this chair is of a modern style, made with experimental materials at the time, such as fiberglass and aluminum. This chair is in fact designed so that the leg (in aluminum) gradually transforms into the seat (in fiberglass).
Welcoming, comfortable, rotating, it is available in many variations.
This object is considered today as one of the flagship objects of industrial design. A copy of this chair is part of the permanent collections of the Vitra Museum in Basel and the MoMA. Its designer received the Museum of Modern Art Award in 1969 for his creation.
