Beautiful French school signed lower right by Eugène Henri Cauchois, end of XIXth century around 1890.
 
Dimension without frame: Height 46 cm - Length 33 cm.
Dimension with frame: Height 60 cm - Length 47 cm.
 
Very good condition. Modern frame.
 
Biography :
 
Eugène Cauchois, born in Rouen (Seine Maritime), on February 14, 1850, and died in Paris on October 7, 1911. French painter.
 
Eugène Cauchois entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studios of Ferdinand Dubos and Alexandre Cabanel. He specialized in the composition of still lifes based on fruits, flowers and kitchen utensils. He also painted landscapes and marine views.
 
In 1876 in Paris, he married Louise Ladevèze, the painter Eugène Capelle was witness to the marriage.
 
He stayed in Brussels in 1878-1879. He had taken the habit of signing his paintings with the name of the month in which he had made them.
 
Towards the end of his life, Eugène Cauchois began decorative painting with floral compositions.
He had a Parisian studio at no. 32 rue des Dames in Paris (17th arrondissement). The painter Marcellin Desboutin (1823-1902) was his neighbor there.

Eugène Cauchois made his debut at the Salon of 1874, then sent his works to the Salon des Artistes Français in 1881, 1890 (where he became a member), 1898 (third class medal), 1904 (second class medal) and 1908 (Le train a passé; Mélancolie).
