Gaspar Miro was a Catalan painter born in 1859 in Vilanova la Geltru into a family of painters. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona with the painter La Lonja. He taught for a time at the school in Vilanova before leaving Spain for Paris where he exhibited regularly.

Described as a post-impressionist painter, his touch is lively, his colors warm, he paints many large cities but also landscapes and portraits.
