Jean-Baptiste Delaunay Master in 1764 Louis XV period lacquered beech sofa circa 1770
 
An elegant sofa, stamped by Jean-Baptiste Delaunay, received as Master in 1764, in carved and gray lacquered beech, decorated with stylized flowers and foliage; whiplash armrest consoles. The sofa rests on six ribbed arched legs and fillets on the front.
 
Fine French work, Louis XV period, stamped Jean-Baptiste Delaunay, circa 1770.

Sofa dimensions: Backrest height 107 cm – Length 126 cm – Depth 62 cm – Seat height 40 cm.
 
A beautiful Louis XV period chair circa 1770 in very good condition, with a beautiful stamp. It should be noted that the sofa may have been reduced in size.
Formerly covered with a lampas upholstery from Maison Tassinari et Chatel, cherry-coloured with large floral motifs, we note stains on the seat.
 
Biography :
 
Jean-Baptiste Delaunay, who settled on rue Saint-Martin, left seats in the Louis XV and Louis XVI with pure and harmonious shapes and sober decor.
He is considered one of the best chair cabinetmakers of his time.
 
Jean-Baptiste Delaunay had an extremely elegant manner, and the Louis XV armchairs that came out of his workshop could have been designed by Falconet: the same purity of lines and harmony in proportions.

An elegant sofa, stamped by Jean-Baptiste Delaunay received Maitre in 1764, in carved and gray lacquered beech, decorated with stylized flowers and foliage; whiplash arm brackets. The sofa rests on six cambered legs with ribbed and filleted fronts.

Sofa sizes: H 42.16 In – W 49.60 In – D 24.40 In – Seat high 15.74 In.

A beautiful Louis XV period chair circa 1770 in very good condition with a nice stamp. It should be noted that the sofa may have been reduced in size.
Formerly upholstered in cherry-colored lampas by Tassinari et Chatel with large floral motifs, there are some stains on the seat.

He is considered one of the finest chair cabinet-makers of his time.
