Bibliography:
Portrait painter, genre painter and watercolorist, born in Paris on May 25, 1846, died in the same city in 1909.
Gustave Jacquet was Bouguereau's pupil. He had no other masters and at the beginning of his career his style showed signs of that of his teacher. He began at the Salon of 1865 with an allegory: Bouguereau's reverie could have signed. But the following year he approached the genre that would establish his reputation and began to give the Salons small canvases in which he evoked with conscientious attention to the smallest detail the elegant life of XVIe, XVIIe and XVIIIth centuries.
