Joachim Hierschel de Minerbi (1834-1905), was born in 1834 in Trieste, which was then part of the Austrian Empire.
 
He traveled across Europe to paint landscapes and, in the Netherlands.
Among other things, he chose the pseudonym Van Hier to sign his paintings. But also used other names: Georges de Hierschel de Minerbi, Gioacchino Hierschel, Joachim Hierschel, Gioachino Hierschell, Joachim Hierschl, Joachim Van Hier.
