Elegant rectangular shaped piece of furniture with a support height in Boulle marquetry red tortoiseshell and re-engraved brass with delicate decoration in the style of Jean Berain of palmettes, fleurons, scrolls, interlacing foliage of acanthus centered on a Medici Vase flourishing, under a canopy and draperies theatrically festooned with bell-shaped lambrequins, a floral spray; ebonized wood veneer frames intensify these precious marquetry compositions through chromatic play.

In harmony, an exquisite ornamentation of finely chiseled gilded bronzes with gadroon motifs, cabochons alternating with small flowers, foliage, bases, palms and acanthus rosettes surrounds the frieze moldings punctuating the belt, the entablature and the base of the piece of furniture, adorns the reed and framing rods, and punctuates its uprights with cut sides. Inspired by rocaille, an openwork shell with acanthus or flamed crosses enhances the keyholes, the lamp base, spandrel shape on the side panels of this piece of furniture with a silhouette Louis-quartozienne.

This sweet note Regence blossoms in the radiant figures sheathed in putti haloing the upper part of the uprights of the furniture: these smiling children with curly heads dotted with primrose flowers, with plump shapes emerge from a shell covered with an undulating garland of flowers; arranged as a console, this is wrapped in a large acanthus leaf with foliage forming a fall.

Arranged in appliques, ribboned mascarons with palmettes bearing the effigy ofApollo complete the gilded bronze adornment of the piece of furniture.

It opens with two leaves onto an interior in mahogany veneer with two shelves mounted on a rack.

Resting on a softly scalloped base, it is topped with a thick black Belgian marble top which follows the shape of the frame, accentuating its harmoniously architectural design.

Served by a high quality of execution, this luxurious piece of furniture endowed with both formal and ornamental refinement is fully in line with the production of Parisian cabinetmaking art of the second half of the 19th century represented among others by Mombro, Vervelle aîné, Prétot, ... - distinguished interpreters in their furniture pieces of the Boulle Style highly prized by the high society of the time.
