Pair of Empire style armchairs in carved white lacquered wood with gold highlights.
They rest on two truncated cone-shaped front legs and two sabre-shaped rear legs. The belt and uprights are straight and the seat and backrest are rectangular.
The grip part of the armrests is spherical, reminiscent of officers' chairs. The latter, designed so that officers could sit while keeping their swords at their belts, had the armrests set back, or even removed, and had a spherical pommel directly above the foot as a substitute for an armrest.
Sculpted decoration with frieze motifs alternating with palmette bases and rosettes, typical of the Empire style.
Trimmed in gold fabric, imitating shagreen.
Work from the mid-20th century, in good condition.
