Imposing pair of porcelain vases decorated with exotic birds, French work from the end of the reign of Louis Philippe, beginning of the Napoleon III period.
These naturalistic scenes are richly framed by a geometric decoration of circles and arabesques drawing graceful golden volutes on the background of the piece of a bright dark blue. This technique is a remake of that of Joseph Cotteau, a famous Swiss enameler who made his mark in Paris at the end of the XVIIIth century.
