Biography :
Pierre Nogaret was born in Paris in 1718 and remained the undisputed master of the Lyon siege during the reign of Louis XV. His biography could only be based on Lyon parish registers, all other documents having been destroyed in 1871, after the fire perpetrated by the Commune, of the archives of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris. However, it is thought that after an apprenticeship in Paris, probably with a great master, he left the capital in 1743, to settle in Lyon where he continued his training with the Lyon master François Girard, established on Petite rue Saint Romain.
In 1744 he married a certain Anne Muguet, born in Roanne, and obtained his master's degrees in Lyon in 1745.
From 1745 to 1761, he had fifteen children, many of whom died in infancy. He does not seem to have been very involved in the life of his corporation, of which he was elected master guard with Mathieu Lerbet only on February 9, 1771.
He died on August 23 of the same year and was buried in the "Saint-Roch cave". Upon his death, his children were placed under the guardianship of master cabinetmaker Étienne Vanderheyden. In 1772, his wife sold the "shop floor" to master carpenter Nicolas Parmentier who continued his production by affixing his stamp on some of his unfinished works.
