A variation of this model featuring seagulls around the ship was created in 1938 for the official visit of the King of England to Paris in July. The city of Paris wanted to offer it as an official gift. The surtout with seagulls became referenced by Lalique as the "Espoir de table lumineuse des Souverains anglais".
