Carl RAHL is an Austrian painter. Born in Vienna, he is the son of the engraver Carl Heinrich Rahl.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna where he won a prize at the age of 19
His travels in Italy influenced his painting and style, particularly Venetian and Roman painting.
He creates large frescoes and monumental works for monuments, churches and numerous castles.
This beautiful portrait is an allegory of poetry, it is painted with delicacy and sensitivity.
Adorned with a carved and gilded wooden frame.
