Affortunato Gory Sculpture sur Marbre Blanc de Carrare Les Roses vers 1900

Une intéressante et élégante sculpture en marbre Blanc de Carrare représentant le profil d’une jolie femme, dans ses cheveux une rose. Le sculpteur a volontairement pris le parti de laisser l’observateur penser que son modèle est entouré d’un buisson de roses.

Œuvre charmante et décorative de la fin du XIXème siècle ou du début du XXème siècle, par cet excellent sculpteur qu’était Affortunato Gory. 

Signée sur le côté.

En très bon état de conservation.

Biographie :

Affortunato Gory était une sculpteur italien actif de 1895 à 1925, année où il décède à Paris.

Originaire de Florence, il y étudia la sculpture, à l’Academia de Florence, sous la direction d’Augusta Rivalta.

Gory comme beaucoup d’artistes italiens, émigra en France, à Paris au début du XXème siècle pour y exercer son Art.

Il changea son nom de Fortunato Gori en Affortunato Gory et commença à exposer au Salon des Artistes Français de 1902, avec un buste de femme exécuté en bronze et marbre. Il y présentera ses œuvres jusqu’en 1923.

Gory doit son succès à ses sculptures féminines pleines de grâce, ainsi que pour l’emploi combiné des matériaux du bronze, du marbre, de l’albâtre et de l’ivoire.

An interesting and elegant sculpture in Carrara White marble depicting the profile of a beautiful woman, in her hair a rose. The sculptor voluntarily took the party to let the observer think that his model is surrounded by a bush of roses.

Charming and decorative work of the late 19th century or early 20th century, by this excellent sculptor that was Affortunato Gory.

The sculpture is in fine original condition.

Biography:

Affortunato Gory was an Italian sculptor active from 1895 to 1925, the year he died in Paris.

Originally from Florence, he studied sculpture at the Academia of Florence under the direction of Augusta Rivalta.

Gory, like many Italian artists, emigrated to France, to Paris at the beginning of the 20th century to practice his art.

He changed his name from Fortunato Gori to Affortunato Gory and began to exhibit at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1902, with a bust of a woman executed in bronze and marble. He presented his works there until 1923.

Gory owes his success to his graceful female sculptures, as well as to the combined use of bronze, marble, alabaster and ivory materials.
