Alfred Dubucand est un célèbre sculpteur français , exclusivement animalier , souvent d'inspiration orientaliste .
Fils de Marie-Jeanne Dubucand , il naquit 14, rue Martrois à Paris , le 25 novembre 1828 .
Élève primé d'Antoine - Louis Barye (1795-1875) , de Justin Lequien (1796-1881) et de Pierre Rouillard (1820-1881) , il fait ses débuts à l'âge de trente-neuf ans , au Salon de 1867 .
Alfred Dubucand , exposera régulièrement au Salon de la Société des artistes français , jusqu'en 1883 .
Il obtient une médaille de troisème classe , pour son groupe tiré en bronze et intitulé , "Chasseur persan au guépard" .
Le sculpteur avait une prédilection pour les groupes mettant en scène des hommes et des animaux , souvent d'inspiration orientaliste .
Un grand nombre de ses sculptures orientalistes , représentent des scènes nord-africaines , figurant des tribus et des nomades arabes avec des chevaux , des ânes ou des chameaux .
Alfred Dubucand porte une attention particulière aux détails anatomiques et à la justesse de mouvement de ses sujets .
Il modèle ses figures en cire ou en argile, puis les tire en bronze à la cire perdue ou au sable .
Alfred Dubucand a fréquemment expérimenté les patines chimiques de ses bronzes , d'après l'enseignement d'Antoine-Louis Barye .
Il expose une dernière fois au Salon de 1883 , avec son groupe "Cavalier et Femme Arabes à la Fontaine".

He was awarded a third class medal for his bronze group entitled "Persian Hunter with Cheetah".
