A Louis XVI Period (1774 - 1793) Armchairs.

A pair of Louis XVI period moulded and lacquered gray beechwood cabriolet armchairs, "chapeau de gendarme" seat back. Tapered legs.
The two armchairs are stamped "J.B.Sene".

Jean-Baptiste-Claude Sené (1747-1803), carpenter specialised in armchairs, received "maître" 10 May 1769. As Georges Jacob, Jean-Baptiste-Claude Sené was considerated as one of the greatest French carpenters during the reign of Louis XVI.
